To celebrate International Cake Day Gourmade offered Free Chocolate for one day. This campaign encouraged the growth of new customers whilst delighting existing ones.

The goal was to increase brand awareness enticing new customers to try not only the free cake but the wider selection of Gourmade products – to later convert them into loyal regular customers.

The offer that was valid for one day only – Gourmade were giving away a free chocolate dessert with all orders. With no minimum spend requirements Gourmade were prepared to take the hit on average order value – but with the opportunity to convert into further sales.

As part of the White Square Studio offering we partner with businesses, which means we won’t just wait for you to tell us to think of some ideas. In this instance our close working relationship with Gourmade and our understanding of their customer database offered us the opportunity and insight to explore the opportunity to grow the customer base with an offer that would have potential to reach far and wide. We put together a proposal to ‘trend jack’ international cake day with a one-off offer that was not to be missed.. free cake. This ‘who could say no’ offer is a tricky one for clients, as giving things for free comes at a cost for the business, but a cost they soon realise was recovered by gaining new customers and the opportunity to upsell across ranges once the initial offer enticed. It’s evident that the free-cake campaign was a success through the results, but even more impactful is that their average transaction value actually increased on this day, when we were all expecting the reverse.
